Kosovoian filmfest to screen Iranian ‘Mr. Deer’

Iranian short animation ‘Mr. Deer’ is to be screened at the 2018 Anibar Int'l Animation Festival in Kosovo.

Iranian short animation ‘Mr. Deer’ has been selected to be screened at the 2018 edition of the Anibar International Animation Festival in Kosovo.

Produced by Elaheh Farnia and directed by Mojtaba Mousavi, ‘Mr. Deer’ took two years of production with professional tech crew in collaboration.

The 9-minute animation is set in an unknown time, in a ruined subway station which is similar to those in modern European societies. People in this society have animal faces and have forgotten humane values.

‘Mr. Deer’ has gone on screen at a number of international film events, including the 2018 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the 26th Anima Mundi Film Festival in Brazil, the 48th Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, and the 2018 Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia.

It was awarded at the international competition section of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran and received Special Award of the 28th Zagreb Animation Festival (Animafest) in Croatia.

The Anibar NGO is an organization founded in 2010 by a group of arts activists who have realized their vision and demonstrated their capabilities from the onset of Anibar’s activities.

The Anibar’s mission is to encourage young people, especially young artists, to experiment and work with animation in order to express their ideas and worldview.

The Anibar is working towards its overall goal with capacity-building activities, such as training seminars and workshops, film screenings, debates, and other activities that provide more visibility for emerging artists.

The 2018 edition of the festival is underway from August 13-19 in Peć (or Peja) city in Kosovo.
